Now’s the time to deeply nourish and support hair at home. My favourite ingredient for this? Manketti oil. Organic, non-greasy, and sustainably-sourced, it makes up the core of my range. Here are some ideas to get the most out of my signature Manketti Oil: • Apply the night before you shampoo, leaving it in overnight to maximise the penetration of moisture for the hair to retain elasticity and strength. • Pull it gently through towel-dried hair, focussing on the mid lengths and ends. • Massage it into your scalp to up circulation and to stimulate growth. Good hair is never just about how hair looks. That’s only half the story. It’s also about how you feel about your hair, and the care you offer it. And there’s so much that feeds into that, from how your hair was viewed historically to how you were groomed as a child. My hope is that we can all start to view our hair as ‘good’, beautiful, and deserving of time and love - and that we can pass that on to our children 🙏🏿
And here we are again: lockdown 2.0. Last time around, many of you got in touch to ask about home care for your hair, and how to manage breakage. To help you this time, I’m going to be here all week sharing tips on how to keep your beautiful curls nourished and healthy until we meet again. There’ll be posts, stories, and a few q and a sessions with me so look out for them, and if you have any questions, please share them under this post. It’s been one week since this @obsmagazine feature, there are only four days to go until my book, Good Hair, is finally out, and have just heard the first print has completely sold out so we’re on a second now! Thank you so much to everyone who’s bought a copy, it means so much to me 🙏🏿
“Do it for yourself.” These are the four words I finish my forthcoming book, Good Hair, with. It felt like the perfect way end; my hope for everyone is that they find a way to be at peace with what they see in the mirror, and how their hair feels on their head. But I’ve also found that those words apply to so many areas of life. Do it for yourself. Don’t live according to anyone else’s rules. Don’t compress or diminish your dreams because someone once said you’re not the right sort of person for this or that thing. Don’t worry about someone else’s expectations of you. I’m proof that living by your own standards, holding yourself to account, and doing it for yourself is a way to find purpose and joy - and, hopefully, to help others along the road.
